On Friday March 23rd the El Salvador Consulate here in Melbourne held its first ever commemoration of International Women’s Day.
As Director and co Founder of Salvador’s HOPE, I was honoured and humbled to have been invited by the El Salvador Consulate to deliver the key note speech at this wonderful event in celebration of outstanding women who have made contributions to El Salvador and the Salvadorean community here in Melbourne.
Our heart and vision over the past eight years has been driven by a passion to see men, women and children set free from the injustices of poverty in El Salvador. We were proud to stand alongside the Consulate General on Friday evening as a declaration was made and a renewed commitment to see an end to violence against women and a commitment to work to see real change for El Salvador’s women. A heart and spirit to see women valued and empowered was the running theme of the evening.
It was also an incredible honour to have been personally presented with the award for ‘Outstanding Humanitarian Work’ all due to our work in El Salvador through our ministry, Salvador’s HOPE.
This award and recognition is for all of us who believe in the vision of Salvador’s HOPE, to you, our faithful supporters, amazing volunteers, friends, family, our board members who faithfully serve alongside us and everyone one of you who encourage us in our journey, to you I say this is a celebration for all of us! This recognition is a feather in all our caps! This is really the result of our collective dedication and hard work to see change and transformation take place in our beautiful El Salvador!
Our commitment is to see more Salvadorean women inspired to do more and to be more, because we have so much more to give and I wholeheartedly believe that we can make a significant difference in our personal world, our communities and in our nation!
Thank you to the Salvadorean Consulate for the honour and a big CONGRATULATIONS to the other ladies who received awards in the areas of Arts and Culture for their dedication to the Salvadorean community in Melbourne!
