Gender-based violence-an epidemic in El Salvador

This March, as celebrations for International Women’s Day took centre stage around the world, issues pertaining to women and their safety have led to important topical discussions in mainstream society in a way which we haven't seen before.

Recent events in Australia and in other parts of the world like the UK, have led to mounting pressure within various communities and groups to address the sexual, physical, and emotional abuse of women, importantly also to address the underlying causes of violence against women.

Gender based violence impacts women’s lives across nations and cultures and we know too well that these are not new issues impacting women, yet, they have been largely taboo and extremely difficult to address. This only highlights the need for us to now actively engage in the broader conversation pertaining to our own individual and social responsibility in addressing them.

Over the last few months Salvador's HOPE, along with our partners in El Salvador and here in Australia, have been in discussions and planning our brand new Salvador's HOPE initiative. An initiative which aims to address and bring to the forefront with renewed focus, the ongoing plight and struggle of the Salvadorean Woman.

It is the heart breaking statistics of gender based violence in El Salvador (the highest in the world) impacting every woman's life that has fuelled this new initiative. Through this innovative project we aim to create Hope and Inspire change.

We will be launching this in the next few weeks! and we would value your prayers and support as we continue to plan and roll out this out over the coming months. We look forward to sharing with YOU, our valued supporters, more on how you can help and be a part of this!

So, please stay tuned! more information will be coming to you very soon.
